Recognizing the competitive advantage of expanding adult participation in postsecondary education, the state has extended its commitment through ccfasttrack.org to increase PLA visibility and opportunity amongst learners. For them, teaming up with technology partner AcademyOne and providing a portal dedicated to their prior learning recognition initiative has been a vital strategic key. Implementing an e-Portfolio system with structured workflow processes and user navigation has eased the manual burdens that often prohibit success.
“We have found considerable value in the PLA website built and maintained by AcademyOne. It provides a precise way for adult students to petition and present materials for review for prior learning credit. It also systematizes the evaluation process for the college,” said Pennsylvania Highlands Community College President Dr. Walter Asonevich “Penn Highlands was recognized early on as a top user of this system and granter of prior learning credit. There would be nothing equivalent that we could build internally that would do what the AcademyOne product does.”
